While fly-fishing with my son and son-in-law, I found myself in a web of tangled lines and frustration. My son and son-in-law would chuckle as my casts landed in the trees or bushes, leaving me to grapple with knotty messes. Each time I found myself in the foliage, untangling the mess, I realized I was missing out on the essence of fishing. As I struggled to free my "fly" from another leafy prison, the concept of "sales knots" was born.

"Sales knot" is a symbolic term referring to the barriers and obstacles preventing sales and revenue growth. What are some examples of sales knots? Examples include:

  • Not hiring the right people.
  • Not promoting the right leaders.
  • Not following a process.
  • Not aligning with corporate strategy.
  • Not developing insights.
  • Not fostering a coaching culture.
  • The lack of senior management involvement.
