Heart disease has a devastating impact on individuals and families. I know this personally, as my father went into cardiac arrest early this year. It was very unexpected, since he routinely visited his family doctor and the VA (he served in Vietnam). He was extremely lucky that he survived. Many other fathers, mothers, daughters and friends, colleagues don’t survive.
Through talking with the American Heart Association I realized that heart disease is very high among workers in the manufacturing industry. Ironically, my father spent his entire career in manufacturing.
Partnership with the American Heart Association
MGA has partnered with the American Heart Association (AHA) to create awareness of the impacts of heart disease on individuals and families. We will routinely provide insight into how manufacturers can help their team members (employees) be healthier so that heart disease doesn’t have to have a devastating impact.
AHA has a lot of free resources to help businesses and individuals. Several of the flyers and infographics are great for HR & Wellness Professionals. Manufacturers can access an assortment of the resources here. MGA encourages manufacturers (and others) to access all AHA’s resources on the American Heart Association’s Healthy For Good Website.
Upcoming Heart Walk
The American Heart Association's Heart Walk is the biggest, family-friendly event of the year. They are converting the Grand Rapids Heart Walk to a digital experience event on Facebook with health-themed activities each week in September and the 2020 Virtual Walk event being held on September 25th from 12:00PM – 12:30 PM.
This is one way to build a culture of “caring” within your facility and to support a great organization.
