Co-founder and Managing Partner of Global Battery Solutions

Ellington is the co-founder and managing partner of Global Battery Solutions where his team creates innovative battery and advanced energy mobility & storage technology solutions. The company’s customers include General Motors, Ford, Clarios, Toyota, A123, McClaren, Fisker, BAE, among others. Recently Global Battery Solutions was named Battery Lifecycle Management Center for Volvo Cars-USA.
 
In 2020, Global Battery Solutions (GBS) was the recipient of the prestigious 2020 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch and the SmartZone Best Small Business awards. In 2021 Global Battery Solutions (GBS) was named a Top 10 Emerging Company in Battery Technology by NAATBatt International, an industry trade group comprised of companies, associations and research institutions commercializing advanced electrochemical energy storage technology for emerging, high-tech applications. 
 
Most recently, Ellington led the successful Joint Venture of GBS and Dynamic Manufacturing which created the largest Battery Lifecyle management company in America, where the combined companies had over 950 employees and more than $200 million in annual revenues. 
 
Being a serial entrepreneur, Ellington has founded and co-founded several successful companies. He founded Xenergy Petroleum, exploring oilfields, and raising funds in the oil and gas basins of Michigan. Ellington is the founder of Norseman Games (NG), a game design company and developer of The Realm Online, the first multi-level player, role playing game. Ellington is the inventor and developer of the i-model innovation™ platform©. The i-model platform is a foundational learning tool that enables innovation in advanced technology solutions. The i-model converges at the intersection of quantum computing, molecular engineering, and artificial intelligence.

 

Ellington is an established writer and was selected as a Huffington post blog author and has published several articles on entrepreneurship and social impact issues. He is the author of the much-read booklet The $200 Startup.
 
Ellington is a business mentor at the Chicago Connectory.  Ellington is also a member of Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) and serves on its Diversity Advisory Council. E2 is a national, nonpartisan group of business leaders, investors, and professionals from every sector of the economy who advocate for smart policies that are good for the economy and good for the environment.
 
In 2021, Ellington was selected to serve on Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Climate Council Solutions Workgroup on Mobility and Transportation. 
 
He attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee, and earned degrees in Economics and Theology.
 
Ellington is a jazz pianist but has never claimed to be a Duke Ellington.
